Together to help the world better

Support our programmes

A comprehensive internship program curated for students to apply their theories in the practice world. The program is altered to combine your area of interest along with your study subject for practical sessions.
Periodic sessions from various field experts have been conducted to reach your experience and give you an overview of actual professional work.
A Support Foundation intern should be either enrolled in an educational program or have completed their studies. As interns, you are expected to contribute to the tasks to which you are assigned, but also sharpen your expertise.

As I sat on the plane flying to New Delhi, India, to volunteer at Support Foundation, I really didn’t know what to expect. I had read about how the kids are facing a lot of challenges such as being mentally delayed, having learning difficulties, autism, ADHD, and of course, poverty and societal stigmas. Actually being there was a much different experience than what I had envisioned. Playing games with the kids, and seeing how happy they are just to have someone pay attention to them, is heart warming. Visiting the kids’ homes in the slum helped me to understand the greater sociological context, and the cultural factors impacting their lives, which are so different from Canada. I have learned so much from working with Mrs.Shanu, their selflessness and dedication is inspiring. I imagine it will be one of the greatest, and certainly one of the most memorable, learning experiences of my life.

MS. ELIZABETH BROWN

I had the pleasure of working with the staff and students at The Support Foundation for several weeks in the summer of 2013. I was a graduate student in political science who was coming to India to learn more about Indian politics, society, and culture, and I learned so much from traveling to Dakshinpuri and spending time with differently-abled kids and women working on literacy. It was a joy to watch people who are usually overlooked by their society begin to thrive, through the care and concern of the NGO and its staff. Despite my poor Hindi and the students’ lack of English, we really connected over simple things like music, food, and just spending time together.

It was an immense pleasure for me to be associated with such a lively family i.e Support Foundation.I want to thank Shanu Ma’am for considering & accepting me to be a part of the Support foundation.
Under her guidance not only me but my friends developed the quality of leadership, patience building, and dedication towards the organisation.
Being associated with support foundation has helped me to know the essence of life which purely means that happiness lies in little things.
Those moments spent with the specially abled children at the NGO is something which i will relish forever in my heart. Eagerly hoping to visit the Foundation again.
